Alderley Church Spire, Cheshire
Client: Historic Building Conservation
Remove and Rebuild Spire
The project required the dismantling and rebuilding of the top 10m of the spire following an unsatisfactory structural survey, to make matters more challenging it was very difficult to get materials to workface during normal working hours as there was a school in close proximity.
A fully designed scaffold was constructed from ground level with a complex beamed cantilever at lower roof level (10m in height) which allowed the main spire access scaffold to project up approx. 40m to the full structure height. Logistical issues were resolved by undertaking delivery and collection out of hours…
By using a complex modular beam arrangement, we were able to keep the scaffold loads from taking support from the building structure itself, limiting any further stress to the building. All works completed on programme and without incident.
