Victoria Gate Shopping Mall
Client: Sir Robert McAlpine
Value: £950,000.00
Overview:
Construction of a large City Centre Shopping Mall, also comprising the largest John Lewis Store in the North.
The Problem
The Client required a one-stop shop for all their scaffolding requirements, blockwork, edge protection, access towers formed a requirement at one end of the scale, whilst fully designed, 23,000m3 + mall birdcages and temporary roof scaffolds for high level glazing works was required at the other.
The Solution
3D Scaffolding Ltd provided the Client with a full time non-working scaffold co-ordinator who was able to advise, fully plan and ensure the works were carried out in an orderly and cost effective manner leaving the Client to carry out their specialist work unhindered by access problems.
Achievements
The Client hit all their targets/deadlines without hindrance from Sub-contractors who used the multi-use scaffolds. By providing 3D scaffolding Ltd’s unique scaffold requisition procedures, full scaffold planning eliminated repeat structures forming a common theme throughout the project. Reducing costs and saving programme time.
Customer Testimonial
“Victoria gate has received much critical and architectural acclaim since its recent opening which was covered by local and national media. The client and SRM are exceptionally delighted, I would like to give praise to 3D for the sheer volume of work delivered and efficiently reacting to the ever-changing scaffold requirements. It is unfortunate that the nature your work is never there to be appreciated by the general public but certainly we acknowledge the skill involved in the curved and stepped birdcage scaffold to the arcade roof in particular. This project was perhaps one of the most technically challenging, geometrically complex, and logistically constrained projects we have been faced with.
