Selfridges, Manchester
Client: ISG Retail Ltd
Value: £110,000
Overview:
Installation of New Staircase
The Problem
The Client required high level access and screening to facilitate the installation of a new Store staircase within the existing Selfridge Store in the heart of Manchester’s prominent Shopping Area. The works had to be undertaken whilst the Store remained open to the Public.
The Solution
Narrow scaffolding towers (.300 x .300 on plan to approx. 3m high) were erected directly on the shop floor to support 750mm deep modular beam work spanning across a large section of the main ground floor concession area. The towers and underside of the beam work required fully cladding and decorating (to form a false ceiling) to suit and seamlessly blend in with the high standards of the store fit out. From this now fully enclosed low level scaffold the remaining scaffold works was further projected to form the main works.
Achievements
The full project was delivered within programme and without incident and notably from a service point of view, to the satisfaction of the Main Client. The scaffold design was developed with the client alongside 3D Scaffolding Ltd to arrive at a workable solution to suit the site constraints.
